Steam Deck won the Best Hardware Award at the Golden Joystick Awards

Yesterday, the list of winning games of the 40th Golden Joystick Annual Awards was announced.

Eirden's Ring won four awards including Game of the Year, and Valve's Steam Deck won the best hardware award. Valve founder Gabe Newell (often referred to as Fat G by players) delivered an acceptance speech in which he said he was honored to receive the award and thanked the Steam Deck community.

G Fat said,

On behalf of everyone at Valve, I would like to thank you for awarding Steam Deck the Golden Joystick Award for the best game hardware. On my own PC, its components come from different manufacturers, including AMD's CPU, Nvidia's graphics card, Corsair mice, Logitech keyboards, and Samsung monitors... it's this interoperability, compatibility, and openness that really makes a product like Steam Deck.

G fat then mentioned the acceptance speech of Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida at last year's Golden Joystick Awards. He said,

I listened to Naoki Yoshida's acceptance speech for the Golden Joystick last year. The community is appalled, and I would love to echo him, a product like Steam Deck would not have been possible without the gaming community driving the industry behind us. Beyond that, I really want to accept this award on behalf of the gaming community.
