Strategy Analytics: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 / Flip 4 in Q3 2022 will drive explosive growth in the global folding screen mobile phone market

Strategy Analytics reported that in the context of global geopolitical and economic turmoil, global shipments of folding-screen smartphones climbed to a high double-digit level in the third quarter of 2022. The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Flip series devices are the main reason for the explosive growth in the third quarter of 2022.

Foldable devices are still a niche area, but shipments are growing steadily. Samsung took the absolute lead, followed by Huawei and Xiaomi. In the third quarter of 2022, the Asia-Pacific region will account for more than one-third of folding-screen smartphone shipments.

According to CINNO Research, from the perspective of domestic market share, Huawei’s market share accounted for more than half of 53.2% in the third quarter of 2022. Although it fell by 5.1 percentage points year-on-year, it still leads the domestic folding mobile phone market; Samsung’s market share 20.5%, a year-on-year decrease of 16.1 percentage points; Xiaomi’s market share was 9.0%, a year-on-year increase of 5.8 percentage points, and the ranking jumped to third, mainly due to the launch of its new generation of folding mobile phone product MIX Fold2; Respectively increased to 7.7%, 4.6%, 3.1%.
