The price of PCIe 5.0 SSD of Japanese manufacturer CFD is exposed

Japanese manufacturer CFD Gaming recently launched a PCIe 5.0 SSD, model PG5NFZ, with a speed of 10 GB / s, comes with an active radiator, and will be available in November, optional 1TB to 4TB.

Recently, the price of this SSD in Japan has been exposed. According to the information found by the whistleblower @momomo_us, the price of the SSD is:

  • The 1TB version is priced at 57,420 yen (currently about 2,825 yuan)
  • The 2TB version is priced at 114,840 yen (currently about 5,650 yuan)
  • The 4TB version is priced at 229,680 yen (currently about 11,300 yuan)

At that price, that's roughly CNY 2.76 per GB, which doesn't sound cheap, but this isn't a regular PCIe 5.0 SSD model, with a large heatsink and thermal grease instead of a thermal pad, so expect a cheaper version in the future.

According to previously announced information, this product is based on the NVMe 2.0 specification and is equipped with a PCIe Gen5 interface, providing sequential read speeds of up to 10 GB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 9.5 GB/s. This SSD is based on Phison's "PS5026-E26" master controller and is equipped with Micron's 3D TLC NAND flash memory.

According to the plan of AMD and its partners, PCIe 5.0 SSDs will be available this month. At the Flash Memory Summit 2022, AMD and Phison showcased an E26 master PCIe Gen5 SSD running on the Ryzen 7000 platform with read speeds of 10GB/s.
