Wafer foundry UMC's October revenue was NT$24.344 billion

UMC’s revenue in October reached NT$24.344 billion, a six-month low. Specifically, UMC's revenue in October increased by 27.07% year-on-year and decreased by 3.46% month-on-month. The revenue has declined for two consecutive months, which is a new low level since May this year. In the first 10 months of this year, UMC's cumulative revenue was NT$235.213 billion, a year-on-year increase of 35.91%.

UMC expects that operations in the fourth quarter will be affected by the inventory adjustment of the semiconductor industry, capacity utilization may drop to 90%, wafer shipments will decrease by about 10%, and the average selling price of products will remain flat.

The legal person said that due to the continuous destocking of the computer and smartphone market, UMC's revenue in November and December is expected to fall further, and the demand for 8-inch wafers is relatively weaker than that of 12-inch wafers.
