Apple Increases Prices for Out-of-Warranty Battery Replacements for iPhones, Macs, and iPads

Apple has announced that it will be increasing the cost of out-of-warranty battery replacements for not only iPhones but also iPads and Macs. The new prices will go into effect on March 1, 2023.

For iPhone models prior to the iPhone 14, the out-of-warranty battery service fee will increase by 169 yuan. This means that if you need to replace the battery on your older iPhone model, it will now cost more to do so.

It is important to note that the price increases for out-of-warranty battery replacements will not only affect iPhones but also Macs and iPads. According to Apple's official website, the out-of-warranty battery service fee for MacBook Air models will increase by 290 yuan, while the fee for MacBook and MacBook Pro models will increase by 480 yuan.

Additionally, certain iPad models will also see an increase in the out-of-warranty battery service fee. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro (5th generation and earlier), 11-inch iPad Pro (3rd generation and earlier), 10.5-inch iPad Pro, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, iPad mini (6th generation and earlier), and iPad Air (5th generation and earlier) will all have an additional $149 fee for out-of-warranty battery service.

These price increases will go into effect on March 1, 2023, and have already sparked some criticism from Apple users. It is important for those who own any of these devices to be aware of the potential additional cost of battery replacements in the future.

The out-of-warranty battery replacement costs for most iPhone models currently stand at 748 yuan. However, starting March 1, 2023, this price will increase by 169 yuan for all iPhone models prior to the iPhone 14.

It is important to note that this price increase will only affect those who do not have AppleCare or AppleCare+ for their devices. AppleCare and AppleCare+ are extended protection plans that cover certain damages and repairs, including battery replacements. If a user has AppleCare+ and their battery health drops below 80%, they can replace the battery for free.
