Nokia Bell and China Unicom Partner to Test First 5G FWA Fusion Solution in China

Nokia Bell and China Unicom have announced an expansion of their cooperation with the testing of a 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) solution in Guangdong. This will allow China Unicom to provide its customers with a more affordable and reliable broadband experience.

The First 5G FWA Solution Trial in China

The test conducted by Nokia Bell and China Unicom is the first time a 5G FWA solution trial has been conducted in the Chinese market. The test is based on Nokia Bell's Converged Multiple Access Gateway and will be conducted in Guangdong's existing network.

Nokia Bell's Multi-Access Gateway Solution

Nokia Bell's multi-access gateway solution will enable China Unicom to access fixed wireless and wireline broadband services within the coverage area of its existing Broadband Network Gateway (BNG). This will minimize time-to-market and optimize network synergy.

Nokia Bell's 7750 SR Services Router

The BNG is based on Nokia Bell's 7750 SR Services Router. This router is powered by an FP network processor and Services Router Operating System (SR OS), providing better performance, scale, and versatility in handling a large amount of traffic from 5G user equipment.

Expansion of Cooperation between Nokia Bell and China Unicom

With this test, Nokia Bell and China Unicom are expanding their cooperation, which will enable China Unicom to provide its customers with an affordable, reliable, and seamless broadband experience. By seamlessly integrating fixed and mobile networks, China Unicom will be able to expand network bandwidth and provide more broadband services to customers through its 5G network in the future.
