Counterpoint Research: Apple's iPhone 13 predicted to be the top-selling smartphone in China in 2022

Apple's iPhone 13 is set to be the best-selling smartphone in China in 2022, with the series accounting for three of the top 10 sales models, according to new data from Counterpoint Research. The iPhone 13 alone gained a 6.6% market share, up from 2.3% in 2021, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro came in second and third with 2.2% and 1.9% shares, respectively.

Apple maintains its leading position in the Chinese market

China's smartphone market is an incredibly important market for Apple, and the tech giant has managed to maintain a leading position despite fierce competition. According to Counterpoint Research, this is largely due to the popularity of the iPhone 13 series.

The iPhone 13 is the first Apple iPhone Pro model to enter the top ten list in China

The iPhone 13 is not only the best-selling smartphone in the Chinese market but also contributes more than 10% of the annual sales of smartphones in the country. Additionally, it is the first time that Apple's iPhone Pro model has entered the top ten list in China.

The top ten list includes products from various brands

The remaining top ten products include Honor's X30, OPPO's A56 5G, Honor's Play 30 Plus, vivo's Y33s 5G, Honor's 60, vivo's Y76s, and Honor's Play 20. All of these products are priced below $500, indicating that Apple is still dominating the high-end market.

Counterpoint Research predicts a decline in sales share in 2023

Counterpoint Research predicts that the sales share of the top 10 models will continue to decline in 2023 from a flat 22% share in 2022, partly due to "sustained annual sales declines." However, there are signs in January 2023 that mobile phone sales in this market are starting to recover.
