Laowa, a renowned Chinese camera lens manufacturer, has launched a new lens for the Leica M-mount cameras. The 15mm F2 D-Dreamer lens, which will be available for sale starting tomorrow, boasts a wide-angle view of 110 degrees and near-zero distortion. The lens is priced at 4980 yuan, with an initial price of 4480 yuan.

The New Lens Design

The new Laowa 15mm F2 D-Dreamer lens has been designed to be compact and lightweight, making it easier for photographers to handle. The lens features a new mechanical structure that reduces its size compared to other mount versions.

Lens Features and Specifications

The lens features 9 groups of 12 elements and a 5-blade aperture that can produce a 10-pin starburst effect. The lens also has a 72mm filter aperture that can directly accommodate circular filters. The closest focusing distance of the lens is 14.5cm, and the highest magnification is 0.3x. The lens is made of all-metal material and weighs approximately 418g. The body size of the lens is 63*71mm.

The Laowa 15mm F2 D-Dreamer lens boasts an ultra-wide 110-degree viewing angle, which is ideal for capturing landscapes and cityscapes. The lens also offers near-zero distortion, which means that straight lines remain straight even at the edges of the frame.

Compatibility with Different Cameras

This series of lenses from Laowa now covers Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z, Leica M, and L-mount cameras. The company has also released a mirrorless full-frame version of this lens previously.

Availability

The lens is not yet available on any e-commerce platform. However, interested buyers can keep an eye out for the launch of the lens tomorrow.
