Apple's highly anticipated Mac Pro and Mac Studio will not be launched during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event scheduled for June 2023, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. While he shared a host of information about various Mac devices in the podcast, he mentioned that the Mac Pro would still be launched this year, but the company has noticeably delayed the release. The Mac Studio, on the other hand, will not be updated until the M3 series chips are launched to avoid negatively impacting the sales of the Mac Pro.
Mac Pro Launch Delayed
Apple's decision to delay the launch of the new Mac Pro is likely due to production or supply chain issues, according to Gurman. He mentioned that the device would still be launched this year, but it would not be unveiled at the WWDC in June, as expected by many Apple fans. This is a big disappointment for Mac enthusiasts who were eagerly anticipating the release of the Mac Pro, which is expected to be powered by Apple Silicon.
Mac Studio Launch Pushed Back
Gurman also shared some disappointing news about the Mac Studio. According to him, the device will not be updated until the M3 series chips are launched. This decision was made to avoid negatively impacting the sales of the Mac Pro. The Mac Studio was initially expected to be launched with the M2 series chips, but it seems that Apple has changed its plans.
15-inch MacBook Air with M2 Chip
Despite the delay in the launch of the Mac Pro and Mac Studio, there is some good news for Apple fans. Gurman revealed that the 15-inch MacBook Air would still be launched with the M2 chip, which Apple was supposed to release last year. He also mentioned that the 13-inch MacBook Air could be the first to receive an upgrade with the M3 chip, while the 15-inch MacBook Air would receive an upgrade later.
Apple's AR/VR Headset with "In-Air Typing" Functionality
In the podcast, Gurman also talked about Apple's upcoming AR/VR headset. He revealed that the headset would support "in-air typing" functionality, which means that users would be able to type in the air without the need for a physical keyboard. This feature is expected to be a game-changer and could make the headset much more user-friendly. Gurman also mentioned that the battery life of Apple's previous generations of headsets was around 2 hours, which is not very impressive. However, it is not yet clear how long the battery life of the new headset will be.
