AMD Launches Radeon RX 7900M Mobile GPU, Alienware m18 Gaming Laptop is the First to Feature It

AMD has launched the Radeon RX 7900M mobile GPU, based on the RDNA 3 architecture. This is AMD's most powerful mobile graphics card to date, and it is also the first small-chip laptop graphics card.

The RX 7900M is equipped with 72 computing units, which is more than double the number of cores in the RX 7700S. It also has a maximum frequency of 2.09 GHz, 16GB of 256-bit GDDR6 video memory, and a power consumption of 180W. The RX 7900M also features second-generation ray tracing and FSR 3.

AMD has positioned the RX 7900M for high FPS 1440p (QHD) gaming rather than 4K. The company claims that the RX 7900M can achieve an average frame rate 7% higher than the RTX 4080, while also having 4GB more video memory.

AMD has also announced a partnership with Alienware, and the new Alienware m18 gaming laptop will be the first to be equipped with the RX 7900M and Ryzen 9 7945HX.

In addition to the chip, the Alienware m18 gaming laptop also features an 18-inch QHD+ (2560 x 1600) display, 64GB of memory, and up to 8.5TB of storage space. It also comes with the AMD Adrenaline Edition software suite.

Models equipped with the RX 7900M are expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2023, with a starting price of US$2,800.
