Leica Launches 14-24mm f/2.8 and 21mm f/2 ASPH Lenses for SL System

Leica today launched two new lenses for its SL system (L mount): the Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL 14-24 f/2.8 ASPH. and the Super-APO-Summicron-SL 21 f/2 ASPH. The lenses are priced at 19,800 yuan (USD 2,495, currently about 18,263 yuan) and 39,900 yuan (USD 5,495, currently about 40,223 yuan), respectively.

The Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL 14-24 f/2.8 ASPH. is the first SL lens with a focal length of 14mm. It is equipped with 18 high-precision lenses in 13 groups, and the f/2.8 large aperture "can cover the entire zoom range."

The Super-APO-Summicron-SL 21 f/2 ASPH. uses "dual synchronized drive technology" and is equipped with 11 groups of 14 high-precision lenses (3 of which are aspherical lenses). Leica claims that the picture quality is still excellent when the aperture is wide open.

Both lenses are dustproof and splashproof, and have a minimum focusing distance of 0.28m for the Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL 14-24 f/2.8 ASPH. and 0.21m for the Super-APO-Summicron-SL 21 f/2 ASPH.

The two new lenses are expected to be popular with landscape, architecture, and astrophotographers. They are also a good option for professional photographers and enthusiasts who need ultra-wideangle lenses with excellent image quality.
