China: BMW's New Domestically Produced 5 Series Debuts in China with Fuel and Electric Variants

Today marks a significant milestone as the new domestically produced BMW 5 Series long-wheelbase model officially rolled off the assembly line at the Shenyang production base. The much-anticipated vehicle will soon be available nationwide, offering consumers both a traditional fuel-powered version and an environmentally conscious pure electric variant.

The model taking center stage on the assembly line this time is the pure electric version of the 5 Series - the i5. Having made its debut overseas in May last year and gracing the Guangzhou Auto Show in November, the i5 combines BMW's new generation design language with dimensions measuring 5175/1900/1520mm in length, width, and height, and a wheelbase of 3105mm.

In a nod to the discerning Chinese market, the new BMW 5 Series boasts several special customizations. Familiar features such as the "classic operation" extended wheelbase are complemented by a striking 31-inch suspended giant screen positioned atop the rear seats. This entertainment centerpiece features an impressive 8K resolution and supports real-time interconnection, akin to the luxurious design style and configuration found in the new generation 7 Series.

The interior of the vehicle is a testament to cutting-edge technology and luxury, with a 12.3-inch LCD instrument in the central control area and a 14.9-inch touch screen. Furthermore, a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system and four-zone automatic air conditioning, controllable independently in the rear, enhance the driving experience.

Under the hood, the fuel version of the 5 Series is expected to sport a 2.0T engine coupled with a 48V mild hybrid system, boasting a maximum power of 190kW and a maximum torque of 400N·m. Meanwhile, the pure electric i5 is set to make waves with a single-motor model reaching a maximum power of 250kW.

For enthusiasts seeking even more power, the i5 M60 xDrive model is set to impress. Featuring a dual-motor four-wheel drive system, this variant delivers a staggering maximum power of 601 horsepower, a peak torque of 820 Nm, and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in a mere 3.8 seconds.

The new BMW 5 Series is not just a car; it's a statement of innovation, power, and elegance, and it's coming soon to driveways across China.
