Geely Galaxy Achieves Record-breaking Sales of 12,088 Units in December, Cumulative Sales Surpass 83,000 in Seven Months

Geely Galaxy, the popular automotive model from Geely Automobile, marked a remarkable sales milestone by announcing the sale of 12,088 units in December 2023. This achievement not only represents the sixth consecutive month of surpassing the 10,000 units mark but also contributes to the impressive cumulative sales figure, which now stands at over 83,000 units since its launch just seven months ago.

In addition to this success, Geely Galaxy enthusiasts can look forward to the global launch of the highly anticipated Galaxy E8 on January 5th.

Geely Automobile, as a whole, reported a total sales figure of 150,453 vehicles in December 2023, reflecting a 3% increase compared to the same period the previous year. The cumulative sales for the full year of 2023 reached 1,686,516 vehicles, surpassing the annual target of 1,650,000.

For the upcoming year, Geely's board of directors has set an ambitious sales target of 1,900,000 units, including Lynk & Co brand cars, signifying a 13% increase from the total sales achieved in 2023. Furthermore, the sales target for new energy vehicles is expected to rise by more than 66% compared to the total sales achieved in 2023.

The success stories in the Chinese automotive industry continue, with various manufacturers reporting impressive sales figures for the month of December and the entire year of 2023.

Other Noteworthy Sales Highlights:

  • Great Wall Motors - Weipai New Energy: Terminal retail sales for Weipai New Energy reached 4,808 units in December, marking a month-on-month increase of 65.96%. The annual sales for 2023 saw a year-on-year increase of 98.39%, with a total of 261,500 new energy passenger vehicles sold.
  • Changan Automobile: Changan Automobile achieved annual sales exceeding 2.55 million vehicles in 2023, with self-owned brand new energy sales surpassing 470,000 units. The overseas sales of self-owned brands also reached a record high of over 230,000 units.
  • Avita Motors: Avita Automobile, a joint venture between Changan Automobile, Huawei, and CATL, reported the delivery of 6,106 units in December 2023. The Avita 12 model contributed 2,004 units in its first month since launch.
  • Lynk & Co: Lynk & Co celebrated a year-on-year sales increase of 16.86%, with a total of 25,695 units sold in December 2023. The new energy model sales accounted for 55.3% of the total, marking a year-on-year increase of 149.77%.
  • BYD Auto: BYD Auto emerged as a major player in the electric vehicle market, with new energy vehicle sales reaching 341,000 units in December and cumulative sales for 2023 totaling 3.0244 million units. BYD Auto surpassed its annual sales target of 3 million vehicles and rewarded its dealers with an estimated 2 billion yuan.
  • SAIC Volkswagen: SAIC Volkswagen reported a significant year-on-year increase of 88.8% in new energy model sales for December 2023, with total sales for the year reaching 130,000 vehicles.
  • Tesla Motors: Tesla delivered a staggering 484,500 vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2023, achieving a full-year delivery record of 1,808,600 vehicles, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 38%. Tesla's Model 3/Y played a pivotal role in this success.
  • BYD Surpasses Tesla as World's Largest Pure Electric Vehicle Manufacturer: BYD Auto emerged as the world's largest pure electric vehicle manufacturer in the fourth quarter of 2023, surpassing Tesla with a total of 526,409 pure electric vehicle sales.
  • Chery Automobile: Chery Automobile reported a sales volume of 1.881 million vehicles in 2023, representing a year-on-year increase of 52.6%. Chery's annual revenue exceeded 300 billion yuan for the first time, with exports reaching 937,148 vehicles.
  • China's Automobile Export Surge: Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the Passenger Car Association, predicts that China's automobile exports will exceed 5.2 million in 2023, citing a 56% export growth rate from January to November. Key performers in the export market include the MG brand, Chery brand, and Haval brand.
