Samsung Announces Promotions for New QLED, Neo QLED, and OLED TVs in Korea

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in advanced digital technology, has announced promotional activities for its new QLED, Neo QLED, and OLED TVs in its home market, South Korea. This announcement comes a few days after the company revealed the prices and pre-order details for its 2024 TV lineup.

Samsung held the 'Unbox & Discover 2024' launch event at the Samsung Electronics Seocho building's multipurpose hall in Seocho-dong, Seoul. The event showcased the company's new QLED, Neo QLED, and OLED TVs, all of which feature faster processors, a newer version of Tizen OS, and AI-powered audio and video processing.

The NQ8 AI Gen 2 processor powers Samsung's new 4K and 8K Neo QLED TVs. This chipset has 8x more neural networks than the processor used in last year's TVs. Its Neural Processing Unit (NPU) is 2x faster than last year's processor. Samsung has also improved Samsung TV Plus to offer more personalized content on the home screen and more on-demand TV content.

The new Tizen OS features user profiles, and the recommended content is tailored for each user. Thanks to the new processor, even low-resolution content is upscaled to 8K resolution for sharper visuals. The Contrast Enhancer Pro feature uses neural networks to detect subjects in a scene and applies enhancements to certain objects and people to create a sense of depth. The 'AI Motion Enhancement Pro' feature smoothly corrects the ball's movement in sports content.

The Active Voice Pro analyzes sound coming from various objects in a video frame and amplifies people's voices. The Moving Sound Pro feature analyzes sound coming from the movement on the screen and optimizes it to improve the sense of realism.

Samsung's new Neo QLED 8K TVs feature the new Infinite Air Design, which features an ultra-premium metal stand made of thin, metal-like material. This makes the screen appear as if it is floating in the air.

There are a total of nine Neo QLED TVs this year: six models in the 4K range and three models in the 8K range. There are three Neo QLED 8K TV models—QND800, QND850, and QND900—and they are available in three sizes: 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch. The 75-inch QND900 TV is priced at KRW 12.9 million ($9,835), while the 85-inch version is priced at KRW 15.9 million ($12,122).

The Neo QLED 4K TV is available in six models—QND80, QND83, QND85, QND87, QND90, and QND95—and seven sizes: 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, 85-inch, and 98-inch. The 75-inch, 85-inch, and 98-inch versions of the QND90 Neo QLED 4K TV is priced at KRW 7.29 million ($5,558), KRW 8.89 million ($6,778), and KRW 14.9 million ($11,360), respectively.

The 2024 OLED TV lineup from Samsung consists of ten TVs across three models (SD85, SD90, and SD95) and five sizes: 48-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch, and 83-inch. They are a mix of Samsung Display's QD-OLED and LG Display's WRGB OLED panels, and Samsung hasn't specified clear information about it. However, we think the 55-inch, 65-inch, and 77-inch models use QD-OLED panels, while the 48-inch, 55-inch, and 83-inch models use LG's WRGB OLED panels.

The 77-inch version of the SD90 is priced at KRW 7.29 million ($5,558). The 65-inch version of the SD95 is priced at KRW 5.49 million ($4,185), while the 77-inch version is priced at KRW 9.09 million ($6,930).

The South Korean firm launched its first 98-inch TV in 2021, and the ultra-large-sized TV category has been expanding ever since. It launched 98-inch Neo QLED 4K and 98-inch Neo QLED 8K TVs last year. This year, it launched a 98-inch Crystel UHD TV. All the 98-inch sized TVs in Samsung's 2024 TV lineup feature enhanced blacks and reduced noise, powered by AI algorithms.

Yong Seok-woo, President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business Division, said, “We emphasize that the Korean market is a key global market leading the trend of premium TVs and ultra-large TVs. The 2024 Samsung model is a culmination of Samsung Electronics' technological capabilities, which has maintained its No. 1 position in the global TV market for 18 years. We will open the era of AI TV through TV.“
